La mayor parte de la documentación de los primeros años de la Colonia Alejandra está en un cuaderno (archivo 43.40.01) archivado en la Iglesia Anglicana San Bartolomé de Rosario. El gerente lo mantuvo como un diario de los acontecimientos principales de la colonia, incluyendo los fallecimientos de los colonos y sus familiares.

Los primeros dos sepelios fueron de dos jóvenes muertos por aborígenes en el año 1871. Existe una descripción de este episodio en los “Archivos del Parlamento Británico, 1872, ‘Correspondencia respecto al tratamiento de súbditos británicos en la República Argentina entre 1870 y 1872’”.

Casi todos aquellos muertos sepultados en los primeros años se enterraron en el Cementerio de la Administración, ubicado en la barranca del río. En 1879 se inauguró un nuevo cementerio y se transfirieron la mayoría de los restos. En cambio notamos que los restos de Weguelin, Rostán, Rogers, Powys y Larguía, todos muertos por los indios en ataques a la colonia, se transfirieron al camposanto del nuevo templo anglicano San Andrés.

Este listado es el único registro de las defunciones en Alejandra durante el período entre 1871 y 1887. Se transcribió el texto tal como aparece en el cuaderno con su mezcla de idiomas inglés y castellano.

The documentation of Alexandra Colony's early years is mainly found in a day book (archive 43.40.01) still preserved in St Bartholomew's Anglican Church, Rosario. The colony manager maintained in it a log of principal events, including the deaths of various settlers and their dependents.

The first burials are of two young men who died in an attack by indians on the settlement in 1871. For an account of this event see British Parliamentary Papers, 1872, "Correspondence respecting the Treatment of British Subjects in the Argentine Republic: 1870-72".

Almost all those who died in the first few years were buried in the Cementerio de la Administración, on the banks of the river. However, in 1879 a new cemetery was created and most of their mortal remains were reburied in the new cemetery. In contrast, Messrs Weguelin, Rostán, Rogers, Powys and Larguía, all killed in attacks on the colony by indans, were reburied near the site of the new church.

This list is the only record of deaths in Alejandra during the year 1871 to 1887. It is transcribed as it appears in the day book, with its mixture of English and Spanish.
