Source for these lists The full bibliographic description of this book is: Authors: Mulhall, Michael George and Edward Thomas,
Proprietors and Editors of the Buenos Ayres 'Standard'. The first sentence of the introduction establishes the likely readership for the publication: The River Plate offers a fine field for immigrants, as is proved by the thousands of Europeans here who have gained fortune and position during the last twenty years. This group of webpages lists the results of a search through the pages of 1875 Mulhall Handbook for all those people with British, Irish and North American names, mentioned in the text, or in the advertisements in the end pages, together with the reason for their inclusion and the page references. The work of extracting these names was done by Jeremy Howat in 2000, and recently has been thoroughly revised and enlarged by Fiona Darbyshire. Every name mentioned is given its own entry, so that certain people may be referred to several times, for example when they have both a country and a town property. It is presented here in four pages: Argentina A to J; Argentina K to Z; Uruguay; Paraguay. For more information about the Mulhall Brothers, go to another page. |
